CMS Approves Plan to Transform Medicaid Reimbursement in New Mexico Schools

Chicago, Illinois, May 26, 2016

CMS gave final approval to the State of New Mexico State Plan Amendment and RMTS Implementation Plan which transforms and expands Medicaid reimbursement in New Mexico schools. The approved plan changes the way in which costs for direct services are reimbursed, including an annual Fee for Service Cost Report and Settlement.

These approvals by CMS are the result of extensive collaboration between the Human Services Department of New Mexico, CMS and Fairbanks to bring innovation and expanded benefits to better serve the school children in New Mexico. The CMS approved plans will enhance and improve the reimbursement process school districts follow in obtaining Medicaid reimbursement for the services they provide to their students while complying with applicable regulations and guidance from CMS.
